AFROPOLITT| afropolitan
identity & belonging
The book Afropolitt (published by Aschehoug in 2013) is a personal essay, inspired by the global concept Afropolitanism. In the essay, I share my personal experiences of growing up in Norway, as a Black minority in a White country in the 1980's and 1990's. The essay explores a hybrid, globalised identity and questions traditional definitions of race. It challenges not only perceptions Norwegianness, but also what it means to be an African.

The issues raised in this book have also been developed into a talk. I have for years done youth workshops, toured high schools, and lectured Police Academy students and young journalists.
